Danielle Woolston has been an advocate for Souper Bowl of Caring since she was introduced to the movement her freshman year at her Virginia High School. Since then, she has helped spread the word about this movement and most recently become a member of our National Student Alliance.
Danielle began participating in Souper Bowl of Caring through Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The first year her FCA group participated they collected 1,032 lbs. of food and $143. The following year, when Danielle was co-captain, the group collected 1,250 lbs. of food and $155. She was captain again last year and her group collected 1,329 lbs. of food and $245. Each year Danielle did more to get the word out about the Souper Bowl of Caring collection and to educate people about the needs in her community.
This year she is particularly excited about Souper Bowl of Caring because the football team at her high school has made it to the state playoffs, and the new varsity coach is joining as a co-sponsor. Danielle reports, "We will have more support with our football team behind us helping to TACKLE HUNGER."
Regarding her new membership with the National Student Alliance, Danielle says, "This year, as a National Student Alliance member, my biggest goal is to get other schools in our community involved. My goal is to get all four high schools and all four middle schools involved in the campaign. I would love to have a fun challenge among the schools to see who can raise the most money and donate the most pounds of food."
Stay tuned to see how Danielle tackles hunger!
